I heard of Koosh and Hast. Koosh still marketing manager for S.Mob Iran and Hast formed an agency to handle their merchandising tasks. Maybe something like Maht did for us.
Again it took me to think. What differentiated Koosh from me?
I think of the different choices we made when following our career. I chose Hdd over Phil, the choice she made the opposite 3 years ago.
I had my reasons t choose Hdd. I wanted to finally experience being a sales guy. The excitement of building a company from the ground up. To face the challenges, real challenges in a marketing or sales or general management career. I thought that someday Apple will come and they will need a young energetic reputable CEO. I though having the experience of vendor and distributor will make a unique combination.
I took a gamble which ended up in my loss. Had the conditions been better, the market better, the economy, the support from SS for NPC, things would have been greatly different. Had we kept selling 4 or 5K per month definitely things would have been different.
What I ended up with is a company of inexperienced youngsters whose leader is always first to be disappointed. They are not managed well, or led well. A company that can barely stay alive in this market situation.
I can’t help thinking about Steve Jobs’s famous quote: “Don’t waste your time living someone else’s life”
Am I living someone else’s life? I have so much been faced with the fact that people skills is not my strong point. And right here I’m put in the center of a job that barely needs anything other than people skills to make progress. (Though little bit of marketing knowledge is important too)
Suppose I want to live the life of my own. What would that be? What is it that I want to do? Is my ideal job one that has nothing to do with people? No relating to them? No need for understanding them? Is my perfect job opportunity has nothing to do with commanding or leading people? Or convincing them? Fuck I’m really confused.
People skills was definitely one of the things that distinguished Koosh from me. She used to have good relations with everybody even the ones she disliked most. I think that’s one the things that helped her get the Son. job. On the other hand Jobs … but he had people skills, but a weird one based on power of character and charisma using intimidation and humiliation plus a compelling vision to march people to his destination.
Today even Amiri was giving me advice. “We should keep the company alive! If we start downsizing by ourselves and closing the company by our own hands, then definitely the board will think the same way” True. I’m beginning to shut the company by myself.
